MONDAY 22 JULY working with AMY CUNNINGHAM
Experimenting with light, scale & collage: Hand-Made Slides
Creating atmospheric images with transparent and translucent materials such as coloured gels and natural objects; cutting up, layering, drawing on and combining them inside 35 mm slide frames. The slides projected on a larger scale magically revealing the hidden textures and layers in images.
THURSDAY 25 JULY working with IAN DAWSON
An introduction to scanning & 3D printing; Scanning objects and creating 3D prints, a practical introduction to how artists can use technology. Also joining Ian was the artist Annabel Tennyson-Davies.
SATURDAY 27 JULY working with SARAH PAGER
Exploring food though casting techniques whilst thinking about the different outcomes we can expect from an alternative relationship with food. Slabs of clay, vegetables and tools used to make relief castings.
Some of the work made during these workshops will form the exhibition ‘OUTCOMES‘ during Lewes District Councils ‘Artwave’ event in September.
Since 2018 we’ve provided art workshops, mostly for people disadvantaged through circumstance and who would not normally have access to Art education . We have also worked with Sussex Community Development Association to deliver free visual art events for School Holiday Activity Fund schemes. Some of these workshops were to help people take part in the Newhaven Open Call exhibitions.
Painting and Drawing with Newhaven based artist Helen Turner
Helen worked with a group of adults using the immediate locality of Newhaven as starting points for making a body of work inside a few hours.

Gary was invited to run a full day workshop in Newhaven. Gary introduced people to his work and the processes involved – the day was full of activity – drawing, painting and printmaking using, as inspiration, the wildlife around the Newhaven coast.
